Green design is not a new idea, only the color has been changed
My idea of green design is not a new one. As a designer I have always been an advocate for reusing, recovering, and restoring furniture. The key here is buying quality furniture. I know lots of people that go out to inexpensive furniture stores and buy a whole room of furniture for very little money. Then in 2 years it goes on the curb for the garbage. I get that people want instant gratification, but this is almost like throwing their money in the trash. My ideas is to go to a used furniture store, resale store, or even Good Will and hunt for quality furniture and have it upholstered or restored. Look for quality name brands on the furniture and try to get a look inside and outside. Look at the frames and style of furniture not fabric and finishes. They can be changed. This is not just antiques. There are some good mid century modern, art deco and contemporary pieces out there.

Check with your local listing and begin your exciting search! Get to know the owners of the stores and they can help in your search. I bought a Henredon Art Deco dining room set for a fraction of the cost in perfect condition. (text link below) So, go for the green and save lots of green!

And speaking of fabric, many of the top fabric companies are now selling a line of green fabrics. Kravet and Robert Allen are just a few of the bigger names that have these lines of fabrics.
